I try to keep a simple rating system and tend to give books a number out of 5. If I feel the need to discuss the book, I'll usually write a review, but sometimes, all I feel like doing is handing out a number.
I want to share my reasoning behind each number, so you can get a better sense of how I felt about a book.

What did I just read? I reserve a 1 for books that it nearly killed me to finish. For books that maybe I didn't even finish. They were awful and there was nothing redeeming about them in my eyes.

Ok, I liked a few things. Maybe the plot made sense, or the characters made a few smart decisions... but all in all, the book just fell flat and could use a major overhaul.

I liked it. The books falls right in the middle. There were things I really liked, but things I really hated. Or sometimes I just wanted more of something (hopefully this comes through in the second book). Basically, it could have been better, but it could have been worse. Meh.

I really liked it. I almost loved it. I loved the characters, the story, and the writing. That being said... I wanted more. More dialogue. More intrigue. More romance. More action. More something. It was awesome, but with a little extra, it could have been amazing!

I freaking loved it! I will rave about this book for months to come. I will recommend this book to others. I enjoyed everything from the start to the finish. The flaws didn't even bother me because I was so blinded by my love. This book made me think. Fall in love. Cry. Laugh. This book is all about the feels and it couldn't have been any better!
